Welcome back home! What excites you the most being back down under and taking your PR campaign to your home country?

Um, Sydney coffee?! Honestly I love every chance I get to spend time at home. Spending quality time with family is extremely important to me so I don’t take a second for granted. Getting to talk about all the projects I’ve been working on and upcoming music releases is just a bonus.

Your latest song “Déjà Vu” has been signed to Amarda Music, one of the biggest, and well renowned record label in the world. What does it feel like knowing that music god Armin Van Burren’s company is recognizing your music? AND to be the second female artist signed to Amarda?

It feels insane...! The whole Armada team are a woke dream. They’re all filled with genuine excitement about the music they love which feels more and more rare for a label these days. Not that the industry is cold, but encountering blasé jaded personas on a regular basis is just a by-product of our over-saturated music market. I’m a lover of true passion and don’t have much time for people who aren’t as excited about life as I am !

Speaking of music, when listening “Déjà Vu” sent me straight to day-dreaming of an exotic beach location, somewhere like the Bahamas, even Café Del Mar in Ibiza. To me, it’s the definition of a summer soundtrack! Where did you draw inspiration from when creating the melody and vocals for the track?

From EXACTLY what you’re talking about. I write music and see colours and scenes in my head for different chords, that beach vibe was definitely ever present. I wrote the track with the most BRILLIANT producer (and friend), about longing, love, and that heated end of summer vibe.

Prior to “Déjà Vu”, you worked alongside Erick Morillo and Kryder, writing and the vocalist for house track “Waves”. What was it like collaborating with such huge names in the industry?

Beyond amazing. The basic layout of the track was existing, so I was writing to an outline of what you hear in the final product. It was a pretty speedy process with Erick in his LA studio, he is the best fun to work with. Both the boys are truly gifted DJs and producers, performing live with them has been some of my best recent times on stage!

You come from quite the musically-talented family, your late father Marc Hunter (frontman of Dragon), uncle, Todd Hunter and brother Jackson all have a strong imprint in the music industry. What was it like growing up in a household of musical talent, and finding your place and sound within the industry?

I think it was sort of second nature that I found my feet in music... There was always music surrounding me, so it’s inevitable in some way that you become influenced, or guided, by whatever you’re immersed in and what the people you love have a talent for.

You’re now residing in the U.S, being based in Los Angeles has this opened up more opportunities and pathways for you to explore and expand your career?

Yes, absolutely. Its obviously a much bigger market here with more international influence and opportunities, the songwriting community is huge in LA. But no matter where you are it’s easier than ever right now to become whatever you want to become. Everything and everyone is accessible online, limitations do not exist anymore if your dreams are grounded with true fervour and indomitable perseverance.

If you could work with any artist, producer, etc in the world, alive or passed on, who would you choose?

Daft Punk, or Kaskade.

Now to something more personal, what does YOUR Spotify playlist look like?

It’s a constant work of progress! I’m always updating and sharing private playlists, but am going to start making them all public to share with people what I’m listening to.

Finally, it looks like you’re only just getting warmed us, what can we expect to see from Bella Hunter in the upcoming 12 months?

Lots. I’m heading back to Amsterdam very soon for ADE to do writing sessions and some live performances and to announce a huge collaboration which is extremely exciting. Then shooting a new music video, more studio sessions and performing at Art Basel in Miami, then back to Sydney for Christmas and New Years! I cannot wait.
