MarshMarlo (Marlo, yes, that's his real name) is fast making a name for himself in the Australian EDM scene. He first came onto our music radar at the end of last year, and since then he has done nothing but dominate, getting bigger and better. A year ago Marlo was making mixes here and there, today, he now drops a weekly Radio Show under Dj MarshMarlo on Mixcloud that he consistently makes the top 10.

This up and coming act from the Gold Coast is competing with the likes of Martin Garrix, Don Diablo and the most poplar Live Set from the worlds biggest festivals that week.

Somehow he is killing it and even getting 2 sets at once in the top 12.

Come with me as I step behind the decks with Marshmarlo

BTD - Where do you think the scene is headed? One year from now? Five years from now?

MM - Personally, I am really excited to see how quick the EDM scene is growing and the talent that is coming out of literally every part of the world! I really think we will see some massive shifts, especially in some underground genres like deep house, tech house and dare I say it hard styles (not my favourite but its already starting to become the norm).

BTD - You have been climbing the Mixcloud chats each week, how does it feel to see your sets around names like Don Diablo?

MM - When I first started I was hitting around the 23rd spot on the EDM Mixcloud chart. I was so stoked, but now to see it hit 3rd multiple times in unreal, it's just something I am doing for a bit of fun and wanted to share them around with friends, and now they're really taking off!

BTD - Who is your biggest inspiration? Who do you have a lot of respect for?

MM - It would have to be Armin Van Buuren (AVB), the GOAT! He is someone who has been around since the beginning; his skills and talent, in my opinion, is unmatched. His energy is unreal and is still going as hard today after all these years, he' still touring and still manages to release new music and keep ASOT radio show going each week! Ultimately, ASOT is a lot of the reason why I wanted to start my own little weekly show!

BTD - What is one track that never gets old for you no matter how many times you hear it?

MM - God what a question, it sounds like a cliché but in all honesty, I grew up loving old skool trance so it would have to be Tiesto "Adagio For Strings".

BTD - What's on your personal Spotify playlist at the moment?

MM - I listen to a range of different genres as I'm always looking for new music to obviously play in my sets but it’s a mix of Don Diablo, AVB, Lucas & Steve and some Above & Beyond!

BTD - You have a DJ comp coming up this weekend, what can we expect from your set?

MM - I am still building it so I am not 100% on exactly what it’s going to be, but I like to mix it up and play to the crowd and venue. Expect to hear a mix of future house, hip hop, progressive house and even some big room if the venue allows!!!

BTD - As an up-and-coming local act, where would you love to play the most?

MM - The holy grail of all EDM festivals, Tomorrowland of course! I'd even settle with the car!

MarshMarlo is killing his breakthrough into the industry right now and I can not wait to see what the future brings for Gold Coast's local boy. This weekend is the first of what is sure to be many shows for Marlo. He is competing in the Mix Master DJ Comp at the Bedroom Club on the Gold Coast. If you are looking for something to do this weekend get down there and show your support!
