Vini Vici have been taking the world by storm over the last few years. It seems that every big-name artist and mainstage set drops one of their tracks. I got to sit down with Aviram before he comes out to Australia for Festival X.

Please come with me as I step Behind The Decks with Vini Vici

BTD - You have returned to Australia numerous times over the last few years, what keeps you coming back?
VV - The crowds are amazing! It's one of our favourite countries in the world, but the only downside is how far away it is. If you were closer, it would be the best country in the world.
BTD - As artists, you play a huge array of shows from outdoor psytrance festivals, A State of Trance, Tomorrowland and street parties back home. What are some of your favourites and why?
VV - Every show and festivals have their own charm, there is something so pure about psytrance events. No matter where they are, whether it’s a bush doof with the sun shining, the forest, a tent and the music - no effects, no fire, no Lasers - just you the crowd, or it is on the main stage at Tomorrowland, it is a spiritual moment and we feel so blessed.
BTD - What is it that motivates you to play so many different kinds of festivals? We just love what we do!!
VV - We Truly love to play music and making people happy. It overjoys us to see other people happy, dancing and enjoying our creations. That is why we play over 200 shows in a year.
BTD - What is one track that never gets old for you no matter how many times you hear it?
VV - If I had to pick one of our tracks it would be “The Tribe”. If I had to pick tracks that are special to me it would be Faithless “Insomnia”, Daft Punk “ Around The World” and Chemical Brothers “Hey Boy Hey Girl”. These are my all-time classic tracks that will never get old.
BTD - You were the first Psytrance acts to play the Tomorrowland Mainstage, how did it feel and can you describe what that set was like?
VV -It was something that we will never truly be able to put into words. Being on the Tomorrowland Mainstage, representing the psytrance genre was out of this world. We were so honoured and overwhelmed. 7 years ago you would have never heard of psytrance and now it is a worldwide movement - it's crazy how much it has taken off to now has been accepted to be played on the world's biggest stage for EDM.
BTD - What single night out has been the most memorable for you?
VV -There have been so many! But if we had to choose one. it has to be stepping out onto the Tomorrowland Mainstage for the first time. We were just so blown away to be asked in the first place and to be the first psytrance act ever was crazy! The moment we stepped out onto that stage it was insane!! The crowd is hardcore, most crowds need a little downtime in the set - not the Tomorrowland crowd, all they want to do is go hard!!
BTD - Is there anyone that you would love to work with living or dead?
VV - I will answer this one on behalf of Matan. He would love to work with Bob Marley.
BTD - Is there any new Vini Vici music coming out soon?
VV - There sure is, we have a track, “Galaxy”, coming out on 16th September that we have done with Paul Van Dyk. I think it could be one of our favourite tracks so far.
BTD - This question is from Jason - What does the Great Spirit vocal translate to in?
VV - This is a really good question It's in Native American and it's all about good vibes, dancing, love and togetherness. Honestly, this is such a great question, I will talk to my team about getting the translation out on our socials.
BTD - What's the craziest thing you have seen from behind the decks.
VV - There have been so many crazy moments over the years. However, Tomorrowland Winter was on another level. You have to keep in mind that we are from Israel and don't get very cold winters. We played during a snowstorm at Tomorrowland Winter, it was -12c during our set, our faces were freezing and it was so cold I could barely work the CDJs. I could hardly function and yet the crowd were somehow still going crazy! It was like nothing I had seen before!

I have to say I was blown away by Avirams passion for what he does. The man just loves to play music and see people smile, I think we could do with more people in the world like Aviram.
