With EDC now over and the European summer fast approaching the eyes of the EDM world are now on Tomorrowland. Yes, there is a lot of festivals between now and the end of July, However, none more anticipated than the 15th Birthday of Tomorrowland.
Considering the first weekend of Tomorrowland kicks off in 49 days we know surprisingly little. We have only seen a small number of acts, stage hosts and the theme of the main stage announced so far. I am sure this is by design as Tomorrowland wants to ensure all eyes are on them as they unveil what they have planned for there 15 Birthday celebration.
As we enter into June we can expect the information and hype to be kicked into high gear. We are going to see multiple trailers/teaser videos. The voucher sale which includes everything from restaurants, lockers and one of the more exciting rumours of daily upgrades to your stranded ticket.
One thing on everyone's mind is the rest of the line-up. In fact, it seems like we have been waiting so long people are starting to lose hope. Even more than that people want to know who/what Tomorrowland have in store for their 15th Birthday for the dedicated crowd. In 2014 to celebrate their 10th Birthday they hosted the event over 2 weekends for the first time ever.
With that as a benchmark, their 15th Birthday surprise is going to be a big one. Will Swedish House Mafia be there, will there be an Avicii hologram, will they drag Hardwell out of retirement or will we see something completely different like Ultra did a few years ago and go with Knife Party and Pendulum? There has been talk of extending the hours of the festival, currently, it runs from 12pm-12am. However, I am sure we would have heard of something by now as they would have to inform the residents of Boom.
We know that the physical space of the hallowed grounds of Tomorrowland has been reshaped. The main stage hill has been extended, some of the lands around the parklands have been cleared and cleaned up. We can only hope we see new stages and new places to discover. We know that there stage and design has gotten bigger and bigger each year and this year will be no different.
Main Stage will be nothing short of breath taking with more actors, acrobats and pyrotechnic than ever before. The side stages will all have a life of their own and we can only hope we get something fresh as we explore the grounds.
One thing is for sure, the eyes of the EDM world is now on Tomorrowland. It is all in there hands now and I hope they can live up to the hype.
