Last week I brought you the song review of Armin van Buuren & Nicky Romero’s first-ever track ‘I Need You To Know’. Well if that wasn't special enough, to celebrate the release the boys have paired up in what is a world-first B2B radio show live from their own, separate studios.
When the news broke of their single, I was beyond ecstatic - what is better than two of the greats working together to bring us an epic new track? It was fair to say my excitement was real! Not only did we get the release of this track, but we also got a full celebration in the form of a radio show.
Last Friday (Australian-time) when each artist usually debuts their weekly radio shows, we saw the pair go live in the first-ever B2B radio show. Now for all those Armin and Nicky fans out there, you are sure in for a treat with this broadcast. They have created it so you view both of them throughout the show so it almost feels like they are there together.
When the show starts the pair spend some time chatting and catching up before we see Nicky Romero hit the decks with a live set from his studio at Protocol Recordings. The set is short only around 20 minutes, however, it brings all those classic Nicky feels, along with some sneaky Armin tracks worked in.
Following the set the pair move to asking each other interview questions, and if these two are on your fav DJ list, you need to watch this as there are some sick questions packed into this segment, some things I had never known before!
Once the questioning is done, we are treated to Armin hitting the decks for his set over at Armada Music, and what a set we get. Its got hints of classic Armin as well as a little heavier vibe. He too throws in a couple of Nicky mashups in the set as well.
Throughout the show, it’s clear they have a great relationship and respect for one another as they bounce banter back and forth.
With this being world first premiere that we haven’t seen before, I’m keen to see if we see more of this type of setting from artists with the current COVID climate.
If you are looking for a way to smash away those isolation blues or a way to get your party started then this show is one you need to put on immediately.
