Hey Kids, it's Borgore

Written by Shane Price

The Israeli Dj, Borgore, is back with his 'Buygore Mixtape Volume 1'. Originally trained in Jazz at Tel Aviv’s Thelma Yellin Music Academy and was a saxophone prodigy, Yosef Asaf Borger is out here to shock the world once again. A man dubbed “the enfant terrible of bass culture” and happy to name himself the man who “ruined Dubstep,” Borgore comes back swinging on this one.

'Buygore Mixtape Volume 1' isn't for the faint hearted. It seems that the music just gets heavier and heavier, song by song. This album has been dubbed “devastatingly” heavy and shows Borgore’s take on current Dubstep. It starts with the already released track ‘Ratatata’ which sees Borgore collaborate with ETC!ETC! and SNC. Next up Borgore and Yakz team up on the track ‘Tax Return’ followed by a track with Kultivate feat. BLUPILL called ‘Earthquake’. To close off we have the tracks ‘Destroyer’ with Yatix and ‘Brutality’ with Kayp.

‘Ratatata’ opens to what you think is going to be a standard Borgore song but quickly uppercuts you to the jaw with his filthy grime feel. Working its way up to ‘Destroyer', I can honestly say if you aren’t fully into your heavy Dubstep, this mixtape won't be for you. Borgore and Yatix seem to have given a ‘zero fucks’ attitude to this song and they hit you with a tune that puts you back in your seat. I also really love the fact he is doing a lot less vocals and is really just pushing through with the music, I’ve always loved that side of him.

My favourite release on this mixtape would be ‘Brutality’ with Kayp. It’s the last song on the mixtape and is a face melting, bass heavy masterpiece. It’s so hard to explain these songs as every bass producer has their sound and this just seems to be Borgore’s heavier side shining through. I also really do love the fact he is doing a lot less lyrics and is really just pushing through with music, I’ve always loved that side of him.

I’ve seen Borgore play on the European festival scene a few times now and I never thought he would pull the immense crowds that he has. With all that in mind you can tell how easily these mixes are going to be showstoppers once we are all finally allowed to party again.

Listen to 'Buygore Mixtape Volume 1' on Spotify; it's well worth the listen!
