Eric Prydz [CELL.]

Eric Prydz is known for delivering premium quality stage shows with high fidelity visuals, lasers, and has always pushed the limits in stage design. The Swedish DJ and producer has long been recognised as one of the industry's true trailblazers in terms of not only music production, but also live event production. Prydz and his team push the envelope of his live DJ sets, painstakingly working to develop some of the most subversive visual displays fans have ever seen, like his "V O I D" and "HOLOSPHERE" productions.

When the organizers of Tomorrowland announced the brand's foray into the virtual space, Prydz saw an opportunity and ran with it. He went on to announce the debut of his immersive "[CELL.]" stage design before unveiling it in a teaser video, which flung his fanbase headlong into a fever pitch ahead of the livestream event.

The first night of Tomorrowland Around the World was a phenomenal success. DJs presented sets that they were supposed to play at Tomorrowland in person. [CELL.] was one of them, when Eric Prydz collaborated with Tomorrowland to create a digital-only experience.

First of all, surprises started at the very beginning when Prydz opened with ‘Space Diver’ by Boris Brejcha, which is highly unusual for the Swedish DJ, as he is known for mostly dropping his own productions when playing live. This set was a full blown progressive and techno set. The synergy of his set in combination with the visuals was on point, while still putting focus on the records that he was playing. The visuals took us on a journey through Space and Time, and had a recurring theme of an AI detecting the unknown and human life.

So since we couldn’t be at Tomorrowland this year, the performance by Eric Prydz definitely delivered on what was a phenomenal digital production. Also, as Prydz is known for the extraordinary shows that he’s producing, this must have been the highest level of digital performance that you could experience... so far! The collaboration definitely worked well and I always looking forward to what Eric Prydz and Tomorrowland come up with next time!
