Behind The Decks

Feast your ears on Aussie DJ & producer Deakin XD.

Written by Kylie Vesey.

Here at Behind The Decks we LOVE uncovering local Aussie gems that are making their mark on the international music scene, and with the release of Deakin XD’s latest track ‘Dream Together’ released with good friend J-Dub this month, we have since discovered the insane track he released last year on the iconic label, Revealed Recordings.

With regular track releases locally over the past 2 years, it was only a matter of time before an international label picked up this insane Aussie producer. In 2019, those international release dreams came true, with the release of Deakin XD’s track 'Take Me Back' with Wasback ft. Drew Ryan.

June 2019 saw this track highlighted on the Revealed Recordings' Presents Progressive Vol 2’ EP - an EP that showcases the fresh talent on the label and perfectly highlights the progressive-leaning side of Revealed Recordings. The second edition of this EP was launched following the success of ‘Vol 1’ back in January 2019.

When this track opens, there is a focus on the percussion and instrumentals which set the tone for this progressive powerhouse. As it progresses, you are met with melodic cords that show hints of a pop-like momentum. The more it progresses, so does the emotive lyrics, before it finally explodes into a progressive anthem. Each drop throughout tells a story and it is clear why it has been picked up by Revealed Recordings.

This was Deakin XD's first release on Hardwell's iconic label and judging by the killer track he produced, it won't be the last.

One thing we here at Behind The Decks are passionate about is getting around our emerging Aussie talent to showcase them even further, so in true BTD fashion we have reached out to Alex, the man behind Deakin XD, to request an interview. But in full support of Deakin XD, we want to also let you know that his latest track ‘Crash’, featuring the stunning vocals from Sydney’s very own Bianca (check out our interview with her here), was released YESTERDAY!

Make sure you head over and have a listen to these powerhouse tracks, along with the rest of Deakin XD’s discography, and let us know your thoughts!
