A few weeks ago I brought you our interview with Gold Coast DJ and producer Highup, following his release 'Thinkn’ Bout U'. This time he is back with yet another release hot off the press and this one is INSANE!
Following the COVID-19 pandemic, Highup, like most artists, endured cancellations to his touring schedule. With the travel restriction and bans on social gatherings, we have been witness to a newfound appreciation for production, as more artists are spending more time in the studio to create music. And this is exactly what we are seeing from Highup.
The single, 'I Need You', is signed with world-renowned record label, Smash The House Generation Smash, founded by Belgian electronic music DJs and producers Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike and sees Highup team up with Italian DJs FLAREMODE and Boust; what an incredible achievement for this Gold Coast local!
The track starts with a very chilled, melodic sunset vibe, very different from Highup’s previous releases. As the tracks progresses you are met with very sharp, captivating vocals. Throughout the track, there are beautiful piano strokes that immediately draw you in. I was left thinking “wow I'm in for a very acoustic track, I wonder how it will progress”, then right when I was thinking that, I was met with a disco-like melody that brought me all of those feel-good endorphins.
If you are looking for a track that you can play for any occasion, then this is the one for you. It has sing-along lyrics, soft acoustic tones and melodic electric drops that will take you away. I know this is one release I will be having on repeat! Let us know your thoughts.
