MaRLo BRINGS BACK AUSSIE MUSIC IN A NEW, VIRTUAL WAY

Written by Kylie Vesey

Last Saturday night saw MaRLo debut his club show at Marquee Sydney in a new way. After his set being cancelled, pending clubs shutting down due to COVID-19, he went ahead with playing at Marquee, instead, playing to an empty crowd. The show was broadcasted via live stream and TwitchTV to the world, with this being one of the first sets we have seen from an Aussie artist. This set was more than just banging; it was iconic!

Not only did MaRLo play to an empty crowd in Marquee, but he also dropped many ID tracks throughout the set. One of the tracks dropped could be the newest ID from MaRLo, possibly titled “I Wanna Feel It Again” and based on the feel of this track it is set to be a number one hit. This track instantly had me dancing around my lounge room and singing along. It had me connecting with friends virtually, with all of us commenting how great the track was and that it is a possible ID. Let’s hope we are right and we see a release soon.

While tuning in, I saw many friends and acquaintances from all around Australia watching, commenting and interacting with others, which was truly something special. It made the set feel very personal even with the distance between us all right now.

The amount of energy that MaRLo brought to an empty dance floor in Marquee made it feel as though you were there in the club with him. It's fair to say that set will be something that will be talked about for many years to come.

As we see more events cancelled and clubs shutting their doors, it’s evident that shows like this will become the new normal in social interaction and sharing the love of music. MaRLo has certainly paved the way for all Aussie artists to an EPIC standard. Let’s hope other Aussie artists follow in his footsteps as right now MUSIC IS THE ANSWER!

Thank you MaRLo for bringing joy to our homes in this very testing time. We here at Behind The Decks would like to thank you for making it a little lighter for everyone around the world in these trying times.
