In a world where everyone is staying home, events cancelled and flights grounded, it seems fitting that a new way of interaction with music and teaching/learning music production is evolving in this current climate.
With many DJs and producers having endless time on their hands, this week we have seen Nicky Romero team up with Splice, a music production platform with a database full of royalty-free samples, loops and presets, to bring us a set of presets and samples to help those aspiring producers reach their producing goals.
The pack consists of 99 presets from Nicky Romero himself and provides users with synths, bass, drops and that all-round Nicky Romero sound that will assist aspiring producers in finding their unique sound. When listening to the 10 sample presets you are given free access to, you learn they are each the same tune, however, each one is a different sound. Some are crisp, whilst others are more electronic and mechanical, which really gives you an idea of 10 ways you can make the same melody sound.
In a short video introducing the package, Romero states:
"I want to invite you to discover yourself and create your own identity using quality presets and quality samples. Don’t forget to find your own way of mixing because you want it to sound like you. There is already a Martin Garrix, an Afrojack, a Nicky Romero, a Sweedish House Mafia, you want to sound like you”
Splice gives you access to an endless supply of music, presets, vocals, FX and much more. Splice Sounds are all royalty free for a monthly subscription starting at $7.99USD a month. If you are looking to broaden your producing career in isolation, then head over and take a look, as this could be the key you need to create that epic track you have been working towards.
