Today is a good day for music lovers across the country, especially NSW, as the harsh new Festival Laws were voted down by the NSW Government
(21 to 18 votes in the Upper House)
The laws were widely criticized when they where impulsively implemented earlier in the year, forcing many festivals to cancel and caused widespread backlash from the music industry. While I am sure this will not be the last we hear of more strict policies around live music events, this is a great step forward.
The next recommend is to set up a round table discussion between festivals/event organisations and local governments to come up with smarter, long lasting collaborative ideas to keep festival goers safe.
