New Year's Eve; a night with a million things to do, yet it’s always so difficult to make a decision on the best choice, that was our thought process until we saw the lineup for
NYE in the Park is Sydney's only New Year's Eve festival, located in the lush gardens of Camperdown’s Victoria Park (just 10 minutes walk from Newtown station), this year's event is set to go off with a bang with an absolutely stacked line up.
Following last year’s sold out event, the organisers have made sure this is going to be a “fuss-free, affordable, fun festival environment” on the back of the past 2 year’s success, covered with some of the best acts to help you dance in the new year!
We take a look into the headlining artist line up, and what we are most excited to see this NYE in the Park.
Currently smashing a world tour, Luke Dubber (a.k.a. Luke Dubs) and Angus Stuart (a.k.a. El Gusto), from Blue Mountains, NSW will be bringing in new years with party go-ers in style, with songs like “The Buzz” and “Hyperparadise” this duo have made a massive mark on Australian music and are an absolute force to be reckoned with.
It makes me excited to be able to say Girl Talk is headlining. Girl talk will be bringing you one of the most memorable sets you have ever seen accompanied with one of the best party vibes you can get at a festival. This magician will mix multiple songs and genres within one song and have you partying like never before. “Play Your Part (Pt 1)” and “Still here” will give you a great idea with what to expect ahead of his set.
They have been explained as electronic indie, the type of electronic music that will touch your heart, with thought provoking lyrics that hit you right in the feels. The trio that use the backing of samples and loops will be bringing the rest live which gives the set a feeling that can't be replicated. With close to 40 million streams on spotify, The three SAFIA members, Ben, Harry (guitar/keyboard) and Michael (drums) from ACT will definitely not disappoint. Listen to Soul, Listen to Blues and Make them Wheels Roll a great example of what they have in store.
If you are Australian, then you most definitely have heard of the Bag Raiders. From dominating the once huge Australian festival scene this duo is here to stay. Whether its “Shooting Stars” or you are trying to find your “Way Back Home” these Bag Raiders hits will have you singing along to every word. Founded in 2006, classically trained musicians Jack Glass and Chris Stracey have played countless shows all around the world, continually playing and creating an amazing, melodic vibe.
The party powerhouse with hits like “Picture” “UFO” and “I Love It”. The Aria award winning group that have been with us since 2001 will be coming to the stage with the energy that they are known for. Sneaky Sundays, their beloved club night, is now 15+ years strong and after four amazing years at Scorpios, Mykonos they moved to Bali hotspot Mrs Sippy for 2019, so it is obvious Connie Mitchell and Black Angus know exactly how to rock a party anywhere in the world. In a 2013 critics poll Connie was ranked #18 of all-time Australian singers.
Also joining this KILLER headline, are the likes of:
CLIENT LIAISON, TOUCH SENSITIVE, YOUNG FRANCO, GRAACE, OWL EYES, ALICE IVY, CHASE ZERA JAWBREAKERS, HAPPINESS IS WEALTH, ALL MY FRIENDS DJ’S and VAN SHE TECH
It’s great to see a NSW festival returning for their second year in a row. With a line up bricked with a landslide of Australian act, mixed in with some top-tier international’s, if you have not decided what you are doing December 31st, then I recommend you get down and dance your way into the new year.
