Finally! A brand spanking new Australian label! What better an industry than the constantly growing genre, Drum and Bass. Karl Thomas of Perth, better known as ShockOne, has announced the launch of his own label, “Dark Machine Records”, named after his 2019 album 'A Dark Machine', featuring some amazing tracks with Italian producers, The Bloody Beetroots, Australian brothers Ekko & Sidetrack, and of course a few tracks with his incredibly talented sister Reija Lee.
ShockOne himself has enjoyed a career in the music scene for well over a decade, having released tracks, EP’s and full-length albums under numerous previous labels including industry leads such as Monstercat, Warner Music and Viper Records. To boot, ShockOne has previously toured and opened for the original legends of drum and bass - the Prodigy, as part of their “No Tourists” tour of 2019, where sold out crowds were finally able to witness his talents first hand (myself included), in what was one of the greatest opening sets witnessed to date.
With the launch of Dark Machine Records, ShockOne gave the inaugural release to New Zealand Duo, Lee Mvtthews, and their latest track 'Turning Back', featuring a fantastic high-energy beat to cement their name within the label. Additionally, numerous artists including Ekko & Sidetrack, Quinn Karter and Elliot Sloan, have already signed onto the roster, in anticipation for several releases throughout the remainder of 2020. In addition, ShockOne will be debuting his new show “Dark Machine Warehouse” on 31st October, at Centenary Warehouse in Perth - where the event sold out within a week of ticket release.
We at Behind The Decks would love to congratulate ShockOne on his success, as well as the exciting launch of his label, and eagerly await the upcoming releases for the remainder of the year. In addition, we all hope to see his hard-hitting sets live in the near future.
