In a typical world (one without a pandemic that is) last weekend would see US music festival EDC Las Vegas wrap up the major American festival circuit for the year. Instead, May has ramped up to be one MAMMOTH month of virtual festivals being delivered straight to our houses from all corners of the globe, and SiriusXM’s announcement of their own virtual festival, DisDance, is shaped up to be one hell of an epic virtual festival this weekend!
Taking place 22nd - 24th May, virtual festival goers will be able to dance from the comfort of their own living room, while fan-favourite artists including Above & Beyond, Alesso, Deadmau5 and Nicky Romero are some of the headliners to perform on the first day alone! Saturday’s star-studded lineup includes acts from Australia’s most sought out female DJ, Alison Wonderland, Kaskade, Tiësto, and Calvin Harris under his techno alias, Love Regenerator, and Sunday is reigned in with some of the best of the best, including Armin van Buuren, Don Diablo, Sam Feldt and Kygo.
“We’re thrilled to be providing a top-notch line up of some of the biggest names in dance music in our first-ever Virtual DisDance Festival. The virtual event will bring the festival experience to life and entertain dance music fans nationwide with original performances and appearances they won’t want to miss. Our listeners can continue to count on SiriusXM to keep them close to their favourite artists and to deliver great exclusive, original and entertaining content” said Scott Greenstein, President and Chief Content Officer of SiriusXM.
And if a star-studded DJ lineup isn't enough, SiriusXM will also debut an exclusive Avicii set, performed at a company event in 2011. Definitely the must-see set of the weekend (in our opinion anyway!)
The 3-day event will be hosted by The Chainsmokers, who recently took an indefinite social media hiatus back in February to work on new music to be released under TSC4, and is working in alliance with MusiCares Covid-19 Relief Fund, a not for profit who is providing critical funds that can directly support music people in need. The virtual festival will be taking donations for the Relief Fund, as it was reported that the Relief Fund was recently depleted of its funds earlier this month.
Set times for the 3 day virtual festival can be found on the bottom of SiriusXM's post here.
With an event this good, we hope that the livestream capabilities allow us Aussies to be part of this amazing event, just like others have been in the past!
