When the world's best music festival, Tomorrowland, changes their website layout, and puts a countdown timer on their homepage, we instantly knew that were going to be graced with a star-studded line up over one of the two festival weekends in July when the iconic festival usually takes place. We had seen the same trend happen with every other festival this year, thanks to Covid-19's postponement of all festivals (and fun) for 2020). What we didn't know is what Tomorrowland had actually in store for us.
"In these uncommon times, Tomorrowland searched for a new destination, where we, the People of Tomorrow, will be united Around the World"
Tomorrowland presents: Tomorrowland Around The World, a two-day festival taking place on Saturday July 25th - Sunday, July 26th, 2020.
But alas, Tomorrowland Around The World is not your average digital festival, which we have seen on rinse and repeat over this pandemic. Tomorrowland Around The World will employ the use of 3D design and technology, video production and special effects, we're thinking Porter Robinson's Secret Sky festival crossed between Koven's virtual reality nightclub, then multiply it by ten thousand, because let's face it, Tomorrowland doesn't do things half-arsed!
The digital festival is available to anyone around the globe, not matter your location, as long as you have access to a web browser. Tomorrowland Around The World will host 8 different stages, including some of Tomorrowland's real life favourite stages including; Atmosphere, Core, Freedom (a personal fav!) and Elixir, as well as 3 brand new stage concepts. These stages, much like the "real life" ones in Belgium, will host a multitude of performances from the world's best EDM artists, including a live reveal of The Mainstage lineup for this years ‘The Reflection of Love – Chapter 1’.
It wouldn't be Tomorrowland without all the added extras, and expect no less from the digital edition of the festival, with a wide range of interactive experiences including webinars, games and workshops focusing on lifestyle, food, fashion and the Tomorrowland foundation all set to be included in the 2020 digital edition of the festival.
Speaking about the exciting new concept, co-founder of Tomorrowland Michiel Beers reveals:
“Tomorrowland Around The World is the result of a gigantic team effort of hundreds of people who are working around the clock to create a never-before-seen interactive entertainment experience. Since we started this project and all ideas came together, we immediately felt an enormous energy and lots of positivity from everybody involved. For us it’s a bit re-inventing the festival experience, but we truly believe that we can bring the spirit of Tomorrowland and entertainment at the highest level to people and homes around the globe. We hope that hundreds of thousands of people will unite in a responsible way and that small Tomorrowland gatherings at people’s homes – from Canada to Australia, from Japan to Brazil and everywhere in between – will be organised. Especially during the weekend where normally Tomorrowland Belgium would take place, we really have the power to unite the world.”
Festival goers have also been presented with an array of ticket sale options, ranging from Day pass tickets (€12.50 each), Full weekend pass (€20), as well as other home party packages, including streamer cannons, lights, speakers and cups to name a few of the all inclusive packages, with prices starting from €45 to €250. Tickets will be on sale June 18th, and has been noted that "limited" tickets are available for packaged options.
It would not be a Tomorrowland event, without the festival brand taking the wheel, and being the leaders of livestream events around the world. Stay tuned for the lineup reveal on Monday, June 15th, as well as any other updates and experiences via Tomorrowland.com.
