EP Released 24 April, 2020.
After a long wait, the day is finally here. The release of Trivecta’s debut EP - with Ophelia Records - ‘Everyday’, featuring three new tracks and soft melodious intro. This release will be one of Trivecta’s first multi-track albums, as well as being the solo producer behind these amazing songs! For those who don’t know him, Trivecta has collaborated in the past with musicians including Wooli, Seven Lions, Nevve and countless others to bring amazing tracks into the industry such as ‘Island’, ‘Tornado’ and if you’re a fan of Rocket League, you may even recognise ‘Break Me’!
The first track on this EP - ‘Leave It All Behind’ Ft. Fagin, was released earlier this month with Ophelia, and really shapes the rest of the EP. There’s a slow soft build with Fagin’s sensational vocals accompanying the electronic build up before the first drop, which is where you truly hear Trivecta bring his style into the song. The melodious bass climax arrives with the disappearance of any lyrics, and disappears again with Fagin’s return to the track. The only way to really describe this track is how the man himself does. Trivecta states “The whole EP feels like an evolved style of melodic bass inspired by folk and indie influences. I’m calling it folk bass”, which really does feel like a perfect description. It’s not overly bassy, but also not too soft in the build up.
‘Wasteland’ is the second track, and is brand new to the ears, with no prior release or information surrounding the release. Once again, we have a great lyrical buildup to introduce the song, with what can only be heard as a breakup and a sense of loneliness. “Would you be the one to stop the hurting, I want to feel again. My heart is a wasteland without you”. As the chorus continues the pacing of the song picks up and you can almost feel Trivecta bouncing around the decks just before the drop arrives. The upbeat nature of the bass hit is perfect, it’s not overloading your ears and matches the prior sounds perfect. After the drop the track maintains the faster pace with the lyrics taking a more positive outlook, and that “The end is a beginning, some would say the comes after rain”, before a second drop comes in, this time echoing that all too familiar drop (you know the one) you feel in ‘Shatterpoint’, before the song concludes.
Our last release, ‘Everyday’, features Indie music duo Rico and Miella (you MUST checkout some of their music - particularly ‘Worth Fighting For’ and ‘Here at Last’) and concludes the EP beautifully. Early on in the track, it feels like an acoustic song, with Rico providing solo vocals to set the scene of what sounds like the happiest breakup I’ve heard in a long time. Miella throws her stunning vocals into the mix as the pace picks up a bit. “Everyday, we grow a little colder, a little further, and everyday, it’s a little harder than I would like to say”, whilst maintaining such a positive and uplifting sound to it. The drop in ‘Everyday’ is a bit different to the previous two tracks; it’s less consistent, more bassy and a little heavier, although any fan of Future/Melodic Bass will instantly be in love. As we fall back into Rico’s vocal solo once more, you feel a bit reminiscent of the good times, before that same ‘Shatterpoint’ transition comes back (which, to be fair, is probably my favourite across any song ever released) before heading to the end of the song.
For a first (and solo) EP release, it feels like Trivecta has gone a little softer on the drops when you compare his collaborative tracks like ‘Island’ and ‘Oxygen’, and part of this comes from the vocal assists in each song. There are some great touches to Indie music, and it definitely doesn’t go too hard on the bass that you feel your ears vibrating, but instead offers a harmonious duality between the softer melody and harder bass. Of the three tracks, I think I’m the biggest fan of ‘Wasteland’, as the faster pacing really lifts me up and gets me wanting to move and throw my arms around. It’s a great track, as part of a great EP, and I can’t wait to see what Trivecta releases in the future, hopefully touring in the future as part of Ophelia.
