As a first time Ultranaut I couldn't be more keen for 3 days of good vibes to come, we arrived in Split Thursday afternoon and headed out straight away to collect our wristbands. Now it's not only strongly recommended you collect your wristband on the Thursday, but absolute madness if you think collecting your band on the Friday is a good idea, because straight up you're going to have a bad time haha!
Punters waited upwards of 45 minutes to collect their entry pass on the gate Friday. Entry to the festival was a breeze, despite a rather scrutinise security search we were in and on the dance floor in under 5 minutes. From a setup point of view I think it was incredible that the team pulled this off having only been given the green light for the grounds weeks before it was impressive how well set up and laid out the festival was, navigating the grounds was so easy with lots of identifiable markings spread out made meet up spots for your crew a breeze.
The production was incredible, Ultra really spares no expense when it comes to stage design, from incredible light shows, to intense visual screen and lasers that only sharks would have attached to their heads, it's safe to say no one was disappointed with the absolute monument of a main stage!
Picking a favorite set would be hard, as I'm sure we can all agree that the long awaited return of Swedish house mafia all held a special place in our hearts, with their own custom production they really need to be placed in their own category. That being said, Alesso really delivered an incredible performance, classic songs with some surprise remixes made the hour and a half set seem not nearly long enough.
Signing off my first ultra experience couldn't have been more memorable, without a doubt I will return next year to relive it all again, for now some much needed rest and recovery awaits me before my adventures take me to Lollapolooza in pairs, quickly followed by the holy grail of music festivals we call Tomorrowland.
