Vegas has reopened with some very different changes

Written By Kylie Vesey

This month we have started to see restrictions around some well-known music destinations relaxed in an attempt to reignite tourism and stimulate the economy. With the announcement of Vegas reopening many are wondering what does that mean, and when oh when will the parties be back?

With the announcement of the reopening many gyms, bars, churches, movie theatres, spas, and other businesses in Nevada have been allowed to operate at limited capacity.

Most casinos and resorts will reopen with ample hand sanitising stations throughout the properties and provide free face masks (some even branded with company logos). Places like the Bellagio and New York-New York, will have actual hand-washing stations with water, towels and soap. New signage will recommend that guests always wear masks, but the face coverings will not be required for visitors, just for employees.

Some resorts will take it further with additional precautions. For example, Wynn Resorts properties plan to use thermal imaging cameras at every entrance to intercept people with fevers. The Venetian has put together a team of 25 Emergency Medical Technicians to be on hand in case guests require immediate attention. Caesars Entertainment have created videos to advise travellers on what to expect when they arrive to ensure that everyone is well aware of the restrictions in place.

Most hotels will reopen with pool access; some will have pool decks operating on reduced schedules. Though the much-loved pool parties that Vegas is known for are probably not coming back anytime soon.

So what does this mean for DJs, pool parties and the prospect of Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) going ahead in October? For now, there is no commitment from the Nevada Government on when these parties will return. They will be monitoring the reopening very closely to ensure that all rules are being followed. Until we know more we can only wait and see if EDC will be allowed to partake in October, however as always safety is the number one priority.
